Welcome to the CDH Resources page, where innovators gain access to collaborative spaces, cutting-edge tools, and expert guidance to build, test, and scale equitable digital health solutions.
About the Health Innovation Technology Sandbox (HITS)

In collaboration with researchers in the School of Engineering at Brown University, the CDH is developing a health innovation technology sandbox (HITS). HITS will function as a deployable model for inclusive, digital health technology (DHT) prototyping and validation. HITS will bring together expertise in engineering, design, and health to promote DHT development and testing and to foster interdisciplinary collaborations.
HITS Objectives
HITS aims to:
- Establish research and design methods to improve diagnostic accuracy for all populations
- Develop strategies for DHT co-design with key stakeholders (technologists, clinicians, implementation scientists, public-health experts, ethicists, regulatory and insurance specialists)
- Build DHT and data literacy programming
- Create training modules for STEM learners across disciplines
Initial Technology Focus Areas
- Wearable optical and kinematic sensors
- AI hardware accelerators
- Computer vision technologies
These platforms are foundational for emerging DHT innovation.
HITS Is Now Open
The Health Innovation Technology Sandbox is now open in 📍Prince Lab, Room 125, Brown University.
This flexible environment supports prototyping, testing, and validation of digital health technologies across clinical, lab, and at-home settings—accelerating innovation and informing future health policy.
Led by CDH Director and Engineering Professor Kimani Toussaint, HITS brings together experts across disciplines to advance digital health innovation.
