Cedric J. Priebe III, MD
Biography
As Chief Information Officer for Lifespan, Dr. Priebe is responsible for information systems at Lifespan, Rhode Island's first and largest health system. Founded in 1994 by Rhode Island Hospital and The Miriam Hospital, Lifespan is now a comprehensive, academic health system affiliated with The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Lifespan's other partners include Rhode Island Hospital's pediatric division, Hasbro Children's Hospital; Bradley Hospital; Newport Hospital; Gateway Healthcare; Lifespan Physician Group and Coastal Medical.
Prior to joining Lifespan, Dr. Priebe was the Chief Information Officer at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital and the Brigham and Women’s Physician Organization. He was responsible for the implementation of the Epic systems across the family of Brigham and Women’s affiliated institutions within the Partners Healthcare enterprise implementation of Epic.
Dr. Priebe has also held several leadership positions in the healthcare IT industry with IDX Systems Corporation, Allscripts Healthcare Solutions and McKesson Health Solutions. Not a stranger to Rhode Island, Dr. Priebe spent nearly 10 years in CMIO and CIO roles at the Care New England Health System.
A graduate from Harvard College and Harvard Medical School, Dr. Priebe practiced for over 20 years as part-time newborn nursery hospitalist and primary care pediatrician with clinical faculty appointments at Harvard Medical School and The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.
Dr. Priebe’s particular areas of research interest and investigation in medical informatics include the effectiveness of automated in-process decision support to improve safety and quality of patient care.
