
Jennifer Unger, MD, MPH
Biography
Dr. Jennifer Unger is an Associate Professor in the Department of OBGYN and Affiliate faculty in the Department of Global Health at the University of Washington with expertise in maternal neonatal and reproductive health, socio-behavioral science and the use of digital technologies to improve and increase utilization of essential reproductive care services for women living in low to middle income countries. With collaborators from the University of Washington Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and Kenyan co-investigators, she designed Mobile WACh (Mobile Solutions for Women’s and Children’s Health), a mobile platform harnessing the capability of the computer-human interaction to send and receive tailored, and novel messaging with women in Kenya. She has more than 10 years of experience designing, implementing, and coordinating large-scale, prospective clinical research studies among pregnant and postpartum women. And she is obsessed with the way we use technology to truly connect marginalized women and their babies to care.
