Maddie McCarthy
Biography
Maddie McCarthy is currently a first year undergraduate student at Brown University who is interested in studying public policy, medical anthropology, physics, and more generally, the intersection between medicine and the humanities in preparation for a career in medicine. In 2016, Maddie started an initiative that creates mobile applications to improve the safety of schools. Her current work is exploring how app based solutions can aid in school gun violence prevention. Prior to her time at Brown, she attended Deerfield Academy in Massachusetts in addition to working in the Ramsey Lab at Rhode Island Hospital and as a medical consultant at Predicata Healthcare Consulting. When not chasing her two Portuguese water dogs around the beach or bookstore hunting, she competes with Brown University’s NCAA Division 1 Alpine Ski Team.
