Melissa Simon, PhD
Biography
Melissa Simon, Ph.D. is the Director of Business Development with Brown Technology Innovations and the Associate Director for Industry Engagement for the Brown-Lifespan Center for Digital Health.
At Brown Technology Innovations, her mission is to help put Brown University’s technology first, driving commercial outcomes that benefit both the University and society. She is responsible for supporting intellectual property development and licensing, industry engagement, and start-up formation within the areas of biomedical engineering, neurotechnology and neuroscience, and digital health.
Prior to joining Brown, Melissa served as Vice President of Life Sciences Business Development for Rhode Island Commerce, where she led strategic initiatives to grow Rhode Island’s life sciences ecosystem. Earlier in her career, she was a Senior Director with Insight Strategy Advisors (now Precision Advisors), a life science strategy consulting firm specializing in pharmaceutical market access, pricing, and reimbursement.
Melissa holds a B.S. in Bioengineering from the University of Pennsylvania and a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Columbia University.
