Melissa Simon, PhD

Associate Director for Industry Engagement, Brown University Center for Digital Health, Director of Business Development, Brown Technology Innovations

Biography

Melissa Simon, Ph.D. serves as Director of Business Development with Brown Technology Innovations and Associate Director for Industry Engagement for the Brown University Center for Digital Health.

At Brown Technology Innovations, her mission is to help bring Brown University's innovations to market, driving commercial outcomes that benefit both the University and society. She supports intellectual property development and licensing, industry engagement, startup formation, and commercialization efforts across biomedical engineering, neurotechnology, neuroscience, and digital health.

As Associate Director for Industry Engagement, Dr. Simon helps foster strategic collaborations among researchers, industry partners, entrepreneurs, investors, and healthcare stakeholders to accelerate the translation and commercialization of innovative digital health technologies.

Prior to joining Brown University, Dr. Simon served as Vice President of Life Sciences Business Development for Rhode Island Commerce, where she led strategic initiatives to grow Rhode Island's life sciences ecosystem. Earlier in her career, she was a Senior Director with Insight Strategy Advisors (now Precision Advisors), a life science strategy consulting firm specializing in pharmaceutical market access, pricing, and reimbursement.

Dr. Simon holds a B.S. in Bioengineering from the University of Pennsylvania and a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Columbia University.
